Kenny Oliver, New President

Kenny OliverI would first like to say Happy Holidays to all of the Southampton Cove residents and I hope this letter finds you and your family in great health. As you may know from Pete Aiello’s previous letter that he is stepping down from the Cove presidency and the board has voted me in as his successor. Thanks again to all of my board members.

I would like to tell you a little bit about myself for those who are not familiar with me. I was born and raised in Oyster Bay, Long Island. I am the grandson of Anthony B. Oliver, who developed both Southampton Shores and Southampton Cove. I spent my summers throughout my childhood in the Shores and have always been drawn to the beauty and quality of life on the East End. My wife Tara and I have been living in the Cove for 9 years. We are very fortunate to reside in such a great and friendly neighborhood. I realized what a great neighborhood this was when I started to build my house in 1998 and met Bob Metcalf, he turned out to be one of the best neighbors you could have. Bob would come over lend me a hand while I was building my house, he would provide me with electricity, tools, refreshments, etc. but most of all, his kindness and great conversation. I take great pride in being a resident of the Cove and as president will continue to improve this community which we all reside.

If there are any suggestions, no matter how big or small, to better the Cove, my board and I are always interested in any input to continue the quality of life we expect.

Hope to see you all at the next meeting!
- Kenneth S. Oliver

American Flag

As I head into the first year as president of the Cove, here are some issues that my board and I will be working on . . .

  • Continue to update the bi-laws.
  • Replace all of the fencing at the Marina. We will be doing this on our own, if you would like to volunteer, please do.
  • American flags to be displayed Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and 9/11.
  • Possibility of having some areas dredged out.
  • Continue to try and improve the drainage problems on some of the roads.
  • If you have any interest in getting involved with the board or starting a community function or party, please express it to one of the board members or me.
  • Thank you for your time and we will see you at the next meeting in early Spring.
    - Kenneth S. Oliver

P.S. Please be sure to fill out the information update letter that is included with your yearly dues. The board and I want to make the web site an informative place to visit or send information out to the membership quickly, such as meetings, block parties, fishing tournaments, etc... As well as keeping summer/snowbird residents informed if something is damaged on their property due to storms.
